Healthy Holiday Choices!

It’s the time of year to spend time with those we love, indulge in the delicious food offered and to be filled with guilt after we sit down on the couch and literally cannot move!

Here are a few tips to beat that overindulgence trigger fighting your brain!

1.) Don’t try to lose weight during the holidays.  Instead, focus on maintaining your current weight.

2.) Exercise, set a time to get active, even if it means a morning walk or cardio curcuit in your living toom. This will help relieve holiday stress and prevent or offset weight gain.

3.) Avoid skipping Meals.  If you are heading out to a party, eat a light snack like raw vegetables or fruit to curb your appetite. This will help with temptation and over-indulgence.

4.) If there is a buffet table of options, balance your plate with fruits and vegetables and a few of your favorite “treat” options.

5.) Be satisfied; not stuffed. Eat until you feel satisfied. Savor those treats in smaller portions.  Sharing is even an option!

6.) If you just so happen to overeat during your holiday meal, take it easy on the next meal and eat lighter. Choose more veggies and fruits over the mashed poratoes and stuffing.

7.) Last but not least, take the initiative to present your spin on a popular holiday dish and consider healthier alternatives for some of your holiday favorites.
